Bathurst has a population just over 40,000 people and has one of the highest growth rates in NSW. As a major regional centre located just two and a half hours drive west of Sydney, Bathurst real estate market is one that should most definitely be on your list to check out for its investment potential. Don’t just take my word for it…. Bathurst has recently made it onto the “Australian Property Investor” magazine’s Top 100. This is a list of the top 100 Australian centres (includes both regional and capital cities), listed in random order, that are set to boom. The much anticipated list is released once a year in the September 2010 edition of the popular magazine.
So Bathurst must be doing something right to attract the attention the professional real estate researchers that compile the Top 100 list. The Top 100 list is one list that most discerning property investors turn to for the names of potential centres so they themselves can research further. Prior to investing in real estate a property investor should always base their investment choices on sound factual and financial due diligence rather that an emotional based decision eg. Just because you “like” a place.
Bathurst has a long history (for Australia that is) as it is the oldest inland city and was proclaimed as town in 1815. The discovery of gold and the subsequent gold rush that followed saw the rapid expansion of Bathurst in the 1850’s and 1860’s. Today Bathurst is a thriving regional centre that continues to benefit from the Governments decentralisation strategy of the late eighties, with those decentralised industries still operating in Bathurst today and providing a sound base for employment.
Bathurst’s Mt Panorama is also the home for the world famous Bathurst 1000 motor race. This brings an annual crowd of some 45,000 motor racing fans and such is a huge injection of income into the local economy especially for accommodation and food outlets over the race week.
If you are a property investor be sure to check out the September 2010 issue of the Australian Property Investor and see for yourself that Bathurst real estate has made it onto API’s prestigious Top 100 List of places API predicts are set to boom.
